transmission? problems

I auto-xed my original 4K tranny for 6 years before it blew up. I ran about
20 to 24 events a year with anywhere between 6 and 8 runs an event. I would
launch at 4500 to 5000 RPM with race tires on. The car had 70,000 miles on
it when I bought it and 125,000 when it did the SMS thing at an auto-x. I
don't think that there is a reason or action that can really cause them to
go. When it's time it's just time. One thing is for sure though. They are
all going to go sooner or later unless you take them apart and fix them.

Agreed, this is not SMS besides it would be leaking badly and you would
know.

"Is the SMS.. self machining syndrome brought on by hard work?" I don't know
but my gut feeling is that if I'd not been treating mine badly, it would
have given me a lot more daily driver type of service. Doesn't his pretty
much hold true for any part?
