Tuning amp/sub/tube (was RE: Re: Speaker opinions...)
That's what I would've suggested. It's called pressure-loading, it's using
the shape and size of the vehicle to amplify the bass. Your're probably just
hearing a lot of port noise and shit right now.
The right way to fix it is to phone kenwood (or a Kenwood dealer), ask them
what the theile/small parameters are for your sub. Then you can find out if
that tube will work with it, and maybe see if lenghtening\shortening the
port will do any good. It's really simple, you just plug the numbers into a
program and it lets you play with the box specs to get an ideal response
slope.
The Chismo way to do it is to just seal it up (shouldn't sound too bad), and
pressure load it wherever it sounds best. I can help you with the right
way, if you want.

then try this first: stick a balled sock in the port and face the speaker
towards the back corner of the hatch.
keep in mind that this is a ported tube, it will never act the same (or as
well)
as a properly tuned sealed box.
