snow tires

Dan , you'll be happy to know the mountain has had
five feet of snow already. We've had a few storms
lately, there's a foot on the ground around town.
Nokian's and Blizzak's are big here. I have
Wintermasters, dunno anything about em, a mid-priced
brand made in Canada. Don't bother with chains but
definitely get true winter tires all around.Studs
would be good, but not really necessary. You will be
driving on a packed snow surface until march-april(and
it will snow into June). You won't see blacktop but for
a few times between storms. They do not plow down to
the pavement or use salt. That black gravel that will
crack your windshield within a week of arrival is
called Scoria. You may want to change your oil before
you get here too. January means -10 most mornings,
worst I saw was -30.
Later, Mike
