turn signal quirk?

i noticed today while driving that my turn signals blink really fast while 
my foots on the brake, but if i let off of the brake pedal they resume 
blimking at normal speed. haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but have 
any of you had a similar problem or have a suggestion as to where to start?
