Not sure if anyone is interested, but I found an 8v. for sale in
Pittsfield Mass. Here is what the guy sent me about it. I think he
wants 950 for it.
Lyman:
I've had the car since '96. I bought it in Colorado with 90k
miles from the orig owner. My wife doesn't like the car because
it's stick and we were given a Taurus from some family. Thus I'm
selling it. It's goldish-bronzish-brown or metalic taupe, I'm not
sure what color VW called it. I don't have any pictures but can
take some digital ones and send them if you interested. Since it
was a colorado car, where they don't use salt, it's pretty rust free.
This is it's second Northeast winter and I had it garaged most of the
winter. It now has abour 144k miles on it. It's just an 8v, not a
16v. It's a great reliable around town car. I've driven it across
country a few times and it's fine for just one person but gets
cramped with 2 people and lots of luggage. I've never had any
problems other than replacing brakes, tires, and the muffler. I had
a helicoil put into one of the sparkplug housings because it was
partly stripped. The heater/airconditioner needs work. The
mechanical linkages from the controls in the dash have come loose and
I've never bothered to go in and reattache them because it's set on
defrost and that's all I ever used.
The reason I posted the car on the web was because I hopped that
someone who loves VWs would be interested in it.
Feel free to give me a call if you have any other questions,
regards,
John
