beating a vw

anyone else ever notice that a vw that has been driven hard all its life
seems to last ALOT longr than one that hasn't? my 16v has 211,000 on it and
shows no sign of laying down anytime soon. my audi just turned 200,000 and
the 8v has almost 200,000 on it, none of them smoke or use any oil. now, the
88 fox has less than 80,000 on it, was always driven by my dad and always
serviced at the local vw shop. it uses over a quart of oil between oil
changes and smokes alot when driven hard. oddd isn't it??? this is not the
first case of this. my 86 bv gti had around 160,000 on it, and a friend had
one with around 90,000 on it, mine would leave his in the dust while his was
trying toget out of  its self made cloud of blue smoke. any one else have a
similiar experience???
