(OT) Diesel Truck questions!!

Hey all!

Just bought an 81 Pickup Diesel yesterday and I have a few questions.

1.  I got a few URLs from people on the list for Caddy lists but none of
them worked.  Anyone know of a URL that works?  I think I tried 3 that were
sent to me and no dice.

2.  This thing needs a head gasket in which all the parts for that came with
it.  I have performed this job many times in the past but in a shop.  We
always reset the pump timing after pulling the head or replacing the t-belt.
I am wondering if this is a necessity since I don't have the tools to do
this yet and do not plan on surfacing the head or changing anything other
than the head gasket.

3.  Is there any tricks to owning one of these?  What I mean by this is
should I run a certain kind of oil, fuel additives, what things I should
replace because it is new to me (other than oil and whatever goes with a
headgasket)?

4.  Should I replace the head bolts only if they are stretch bolts or even
if they aren't?  I will usually use the gas ones a couple times before I get
new ones but I am not sure about the diesels since they run such high
compression.

5.  Anyone have the VW diesel special tools that they don't need anymore
(peg for injection pump, tool to hold cam at TDC, injection pump timing
tool)?

As soon as I get hooked up to a Caddy list I won't feel the need to ask all
of you these questions.  I do know that a lot of you out there know this
stuff so I don't feel too bad about asking this list.  Please respond to me
