My little beastie is sick
That little "square bit" is your oil cooler. Sounds strange but look under
cooling system in your Haynes and you probably will find it.
The sensors on top are screwed into the housing that the cooler is attached
to. You shouldn't have to fool with them at all.
The cooler is held on by a nut on the threaded shaft that holds the filter.
Look up under the filter when it is off and all will become apparent.
