Made a big mistake - test drove a WRX!
Well, I'll put one more tally on the chalkboard. Who's
next? Again, I don't intend to bash VWs, but their new
cars just aren't as good.

I drove a VR6 on an autocross for the first time a
couple weeks ago. I was really surprised, but you're
right! I didn't know they were so peaky. Once it got
going, though, it really hauled ass. Once I got used
to it, it wasn't a problem.

Eh? What do 17" rims have to do with traction? The
only thing rim size has to do with wheel spin is that
larger wheels rob horsepower! The WRX does look good
with 17's though.

That is entirely the fault of the Bridgestone RE-92
tires. They aren't bad as all-season tires go, but
they SUCK as dry street performance tires. They also
have a nasty tendency to go out of balance. Replace
them. I'm on my second set only because I don't drive
too crazy on the street, and I get them cheap at the
dealership 'cause no one wants them. :)

BTW, did I mention that Subaru of America actually
SENT ME MONEY for being the best Subaru in GS at the
Ft. Myers ProSolo? $100! That's what I call enthusiast
support. Kinda too bad that I'm building a VW
autocross car and will be retiring Scoobie soon. Maybe
VW will get the hint and start doing the same type of
stuff.
