RE: Rear rotors rusty
IME, rebuilts are fraud. They do not solve problem with corrosion that
cause parking brake mech to go away. If you have lotsa time, sure you
can swap rebuilts. FWIW, theree is a tech procdeure on Audi site to
recondition parking brake cam.
Newer calipers have arm/mech for parking brake on under side, dunno if it
solves problem. noticed in recent EC mag that someone (Denon?) has Al
calipers that mount the same way.
Know that you will have to prebleed calipers before mounting if you go
with reversed orientation.
Does anyone know vendor for abrasive (Al oxide?) pad for rear 16V
caliper? Outside can be sanded with wire wheel, inside not with splash
shield in place. Ferrous oxide is harder than all the brake compounds
(MM, Axxis, Mintex Red, mystery pads in "loaded" rebuilt).
