Trash bag and heavy duty double box method works fine.  Extra layers
of cardboard and/or crushed smaller boxes in the bottom and around the
sides to keep the tranny from shifting in the box are advisable.  And
a great opportunity to get rid of all those styrofoam peanuts that
collect in your garage.
