I realize that this is specific to my area (ADA County/Boise, Id) but I =
thought I'd share what I found out. Since my '79 did not come with a =
CAT (it even did not require unleaded gas) I was worried what I would be =
required to have or comply with.
As many of you may allready know I am having trouble fitting my new TT =
cat back system on. Thanks to Peter and Nate we (they) discovered that =
the non OEM replacement CAT welded to my 16v DP makes eveything a bit =
too long. Toying with the idea of eliminating the cat alltogether I =
called my local air quality board> Heres the jist of it..
A '79 car is a '79 car. Period. I cornered them a bit on this. I =
didn't want any surprises later. "So it doesnt matter what Ive got under =
the hood, the VIN says its a '79 and thats that?" "YES, we dont check to =
see if it is original"
BTW here are some numbers.
'81-up 1.2% C O and 220 ppm H C
'80 1.5% 400 ppm
'75-'79 3.0% 700 ppm =20
'67-'75 5.0% 900 ppm
Interesting.
So my options open up a bit. Could even go w/ a race dual DP...leagley
Just thought some folks might be interested. Getting info like this is =
more fun if you can share it, I think,
