Does anyone have any tricks to intalling the rear main
seal? I've used the hammer & punch method and not
that I think about it, it probably isn't the best way.
Any ideas? Also, the mainshaft seal on the
transmission? I think I'll try to find a socket to
fit over it.
thanks for any info,
Tony
I take the carrier off, degrease it, use a flat piece of steel or wood over the seal, and then whack it with a BFH.
For the input shaft on the trans, I use a large deep socket, with one or more large washers against the seal.
