EVERY car with a differential but not limited slip works this way -- spin
one wheel in one direction and the other wheel turns the other way.
With a limited slip they will both turn in the same direction.
Some transmissions (4K and AGB for example) have a friction-based
limited-slip-like function that will sometimes allow them to act like a real
LSD. Your 2Y may have one of these as well, that might have been what you
noticed before.
Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Is it just a common Scirocco thing to have the wheels just turn each-other
oppositely? I swear they used to NOT. thanks so much-
