Cincy experience

Ok... Well... Again this year I had convinced myself I wasn't going to Cincy
(I found out about Cincy last year, and couldn't go)... but 5 minutes on the
phone with Mr. Williams, and I was again siked about it... He said..."dude
that didn't take much effort to persuade to go again at all..."
Anyway Everyone I've talked to lately knows that I'm a bumm w/o a job...
woohoo!! Why NOT go to Cincy right?

Anyway I'm also emailing my Dubber club back home this info so for the
ClubVAC people Cincy is in Ohio at this guy's house in Wilmington... Daun's
his name, and every year for the last 4 years he's been getting more and
more people coming out for this great little gathering (which wasn't sooo
small this year we were able to spell a lower case scirocco in his back yard
with 60 some odd roccos ranging from mid 70's Mk1 sciroccos (I want one!!!
Jeff I'm gonna stop by your crib!!) with 8v and 16v motors... to MkII
scirocco that were unmodded (jan's unreal squeaky clean 86 16v... still
havn't gotten over that one yet) to car's with full body kits (like the
Rieger kit on Al's car, and seidl kit on Josh's car... I missed a ride in
that one (20v turbo!))...

This gathering is to allow yourself to mingle with other people who like to
work on the same gremlin infested sciroccos we all love too much to sell
even though we scream, yell, kick, threatin' to shoot the car in the gas
tank to hopefully get some enjoyment out of the light show the explosion
would create before you sell/junk it because you've probably put more money
into it than it actually is worth...

Ooops I got off track a little there... where was I... oh yeah... we
essentially show off the fact that we MADE IT TO CINCY in our cars (ok I'll
make sure I drive mine NEXT year... and Kuddos to Julie for making the trek
even though she worked on it the whole way... made the Rochester guys turn
around... and beat them to Cincy.... hmmm that didn't seem right, but we're
glad you arrived safe and sound with your chillin' daughter!

I was at Scott's house crashing by around midnight thursday. We were taking
off first light friday morning. Morning came and I met up with my first
couple of dubbers Jan (86 16v MkII scirocco), and a little later (lol) Brian
(early 80's cabby with a non-knock sensor 2.0 8v crossflow)... I jumped into
Jan's rocco, and we left immediately to jam down the Jersey Pike to Delaware
(Rich Deede's house)... Once in delaware we ran into our next bunch... (I
don't remember everyone's name...) Pete and Shiela? in a 16v MkI
scirocco(76-77? sorry...).

I rode in Jeff's MkI Scirocco. Until then I had never ridden in one
before... Wow I've caught the bug... I want one! Rich showed us his car, and
unfortunately he wasn't going to drive her... sweet ride though... another
20v turbo... wow... then Marc getty showed up in his rocco james bond car...
lol... no smoke screan this year, though we could've used it! That guy in
the Lexus was THE sherrif bewford "T" Justice from Missouri... we were
impressed let me tell you!!! Well I think Pete, Marc, and Jan can tell that
story the best from whence it par-took... thanks guys... can't wait!!!

At this point I knew that I was a part of something GREAT...(somewhere right
now is a perfect sunrise just like ours... Oh Yes... I knew then that I was
going to be a part of something grand... we were going to drive across
America... well... at least to Ohio anyway... the car's are gettin' old... I
mean Scott's Kia/Subaru... or is it Subaru/Kia... Well whatever.. I love
that car... specially comin' back... I was lovin' taping it up to 110-15
while chasing a pack of dubbers... but that is another story... oh yes this
was an action packed adventure that everyone that went can tell you about...
So Sit back, and enjoy the show while the evidence is shown to you all...

the trip was fairly standard... try to keep together, and make sure that
everyone makes the right turns so no-one gets lost. We had a lot of fun with
this wisconsin police officer who was driving like an asshole (that's being
nice) in a Lexus while driving through pennsylvania. He cut off a couple of
us so we decided to blockade his ass, and it was then that he flashed Marc
and myself his badge to make us let him through... of course because he was
a COP in a hurry that made it all better...

Hmmmm Marc almost called him in on his cell for that, but we decided not
to... should've though...
Well we all made it to Cincy without any major problems... People were still
stumbling in alll weekend, and I found our sacraficial lamb for this year
was a Golf GTI...
