General engine questions: Compression ratio and Displacement

  Thanks all for the discussion on this! I had someone at work ask me what CR 
and displacement meant, and since it's been years since my automotive classes 
I more or less explained them to him, but not as precise as has been 
explained here. The end of it was basically "Higher is better for normally 
aspirated motors".
