Jeff-
Seems odd that the higher-lift unit offers less duration....this is =
not the norm.
Lift is a power-builder, with no downsides(except that usually you =
cannot get more lift without more duration if the cam is to avoid =
unacceptable ramp rates).
Duration is a power-builder that makes an engine 'cammy' IF the longer =
duration leads to more overlap.
Overlap is the key.
Usually, "street performance" is what you want in an oft-driven street =
car. (duh...)
Cams advertised as "high performance" will decrease the low-RPM =
usefulness, making it more suitable for track use.
What can you live with?????
Larry sandiego16V
I was cruising through Potterman's site and noticed he offered two =
Solid Lifter 8v cams.
=20
A Neuspeed .432 lift, 272 duration for "Hi-Performance" and a Neuspeed =
.425 lift, 283 duration for "street performance"
=20
Aren't these terms reversed? Wouldn't a 272 be "milder" or "less =
radical" and thus more suited for the street?
=20
My limited knowledge of the difference in cams was the duration - =
could someone explain this? TIA
