OK i swear my scirocco is cursed... overheating

this morning i drove to work fine... 2 hours later i drove to vw parts... i decided to install my air filter there for some stupid reason and now my scirocco is over heatin i couldnt even drive it back to work... i had to keep pullin over every 5 mins... 
it looks like the coolant cap might be broken it starts leakin when its only at half way and is unstoppable once it reaches 70 however yesterday my car ran at 75% so what the hell is the cap broken... or did i somehow blow another god damn head... i cant afford this car anymore... fuckin a and i just brought all these damn parts for it on ebay and with my dealer... 
DAMN IT sometimes i wonder if i should have brought myself a toyota i wouldnt have to spend so much money....... i hate today.
so has anyone ever had there cap blow out the coolant that early
