accumulator nose?

Do either of the fuel pumps have a spring mechanism like the accumulator?
I hear tapping for 5-10 secs after cold start.  Taping noise sounds like a spring echo during each tap.  No springs in the vincinity right, just the $120 pos can?
When the accumulator starts to fail does the spring bounce around the canister when the fuel pressure rises,and/or the diaphram is bad?  the noise is loud enough to hear inside the car. Ever see a beer can explode?
