sunroof crank

Starting work on my sunroof. First I lubed it which made a lot of
difference. I can pretty much open it by cranking it open. However, the
crank won't close it. I have to pull the sunroof closed by hand.

Ideas?

Could the crank and or gears be worn such that it won't pull or does the
sunroof need to come out for more extensive attention.
If it needs to come out, I can't get mine to tilt so as to release the
spring as the first step.

Suggestions please!
