Yeah, you guys are quite right.  The only time I've run this particular car
in an auto-x, I ran street pressure (37fr/26rear, just to see how far I can
push the envelope on the street) and it was obvious that the tires  were not
happy.

Yep, you need a lot of air. But... every tire is different so get some
sidewall chalk and then you will know how much air you need to keep the
sidewalls off the pavement.
