Bodywork basics

well now that I will be getting a new motor for the 84 Jetta ....I think it
is time to save her from any more rust damage.  I have never ever done any
bodywork before so I am starting from scratch when it comes to
talent.....anyway is there a good reference for the basics of rust repair
and body filling ....or at least a list of the minimal stuff I should get

angle grinder.....etc 

any help is appreciated
