5th gear problem - I need guidance
Assuming you did the 5th gear fork adjustment correctly at first
(0.200"), it sounds like the lock plate could have worked loose and is
let the adjustment work to where it's now incorrect. Good news (as you
know) is that this is fixable with the tranny in. Use a new lockplate
and make sure it's pressed all the way down.
Other things to check are the linkage adjustments and the detent
plungers on top of the shifter housing.
