[ot] is this bad/lazy driving ???
Technically your dad is correct, you want to always have a firm two-hand
grip on the wheel and feed it from hand to hand when unwinding from a
corner.
Also, resting your hand on the shifter has been known to wear out the shift
mechanism and/or transmission input seal depending on the design of the car,
plus you don't have as much control as quickly if both hands are not already
on the wheel.
On the other hand, I'm happy if you are simply paying attention to your
driving and not yapping on the phone/applying mascara/reading the
newspaper/scalding your lap with hot coffee.
If you intend to pursue performance driving, whether at the autoX, driving
events or full-on racing, you will find it better and easier if you work on
your good habits on the street rather than have to remember to do it just at
the track.

Dad crazy, if he is in the car. He says it shakes him up. I guess the right
way it to feed the wheel gently back into place hand over hand, but I just
let it go by itself. Who else does this?

one hand on the wheel. I usually rest my right hand on the shifter. That is
a bad habit, no?

exhaust w/borla for an 8v?
