pulling the tail lights

i was pulling my tails out for tinting/painting today, but only got as far as the light assembly. i took it off and all the protruding nuts i could find on the shell that attach it to the body, but it wouldnt come out. is there anything else i need to do to pop the shell out??

the haynes doesnt say anything about it, and i dont have a bently. 

im afraid to just yard on it, as its a little brittle, what sould i do?
