Fan vs idle

Another fan related question. (I had a wire reversed before BTW, OOPS) An=
yway,
when the fan comes on, the idle drops significantly. Idle has been wierd =
when
the car is hot, but switching the fan on manually will send it way down, =
and
the  rad thermoswitch seems to do the same.
Fan motor housing is quite warm, is this normal? =


Suggestions? Or coincidence? LMK. =
