Weighted shift rod



i think both cheapass ron and john worden posted something awhile ago about 
a diy version: one you put some 1 or 2" copper piping around the rod, and 
fill with molten lead. other version you use lead roofing flashing 
(basically a thin sheet of lead) and just roll it around the rod, fasten 
with clamps. haven't tried either, but both seem pretty simple. hth,
