My Golf does that from time to time. Bang the IAC a few times. Make =
sure the "flapper" is'nt stuck open i.e. measure to make sure it's =
centered. Good luck

Subject: Funky Idle
A friend of mine recently picked up a 85 rocco 8v. Since then, we've =
been doing all the usual things the PO's never do, spark plugs, wires, =
vaccume hoses, oil change, new grounds, engine bay cleaning, new =
altenator, etc...
=20
So now we get the beast running, and I wanted to work on the idle a =
bit so I wait for the fan to come on and go off, adjust the idle screw =
and get her down to about 950. Figured I'd let her sit there for a bit =
and after the fan has come on/off about 3-4 times, the idle all the =
sudden startes hunting all over the place. She climbs as high as 2k, =
drops to 1k a few times and then will settle at 1800. So, heres my =
question, WTF is up with that. My 16v likes to idle hunt a bit right =
after start but then goes to about 950 and stays put. This car wait =
till she's good and warm and then plays hell. My thoughts are O2 sensor =
or even wrose, the ECU. What is the general thoughts of the great and =
knowledgable list?
