CV joints once more

the rieger has an fn with 100mm half shafts (including the inners). as far as outers, if a 100 fits and works, then a 90 will. there are some 90mm hubs that wont properly fit a 100mm outer cv though.

  It's a 16V with a FN tranny. The PO gave me a receipt listing the FN installation along witha set of axles. I assume these are axles with 90mm joints. A year later an outer joint blew and my mechanic replaced it witha joint part 191 498 099B which seems to be a 100mm joint. 
  Is it posible to mate a 100mm outer joint to an axle that originally had 90mm outer joint?
  Will both 90,100mm outer joint engage the wheel hub without a problem?
  can I use axles with 90mm inners and 100mm outers?
