Soo...I'm putting this engine-in-a-box together for Big Mac, but have a
few Q's (I didn't take it apart(:
-The main bearing shells (block half) consist of 4 shells with no
groove and one with a groove. The block-half shells that came out are
grooveless...is the bearing set wrong - or - where do I put the
grooved shell half? (FWIW, from Bentley, #1 main is the only one that
doesn't have an oil galley feeding a rod bearing).
-Pistons - which way is right? (These are presently disconnected from
the rods.) If I hold the piston with the wrist pin vertically (that's
up-and-down for dummies), the stamped numbers 82.485 and below that, an
R, in the center of the lower half are readable. Still holding it
that way, there's a horizontal line in the lower left. In the upper
right, about 2:00, is an arrow point to the upper left with a 495 below
it.
I can install them so that the 82.485 is read viewed from the flywheel
or the timing belt. Which is right?
Thanks
Ron
