Fan & Transmission switch problems

So I have a general question on both the radiator fan switch (3 pin 2 temp) 
and the transmission electrical switch that controls the back up lights and 
the disable up shift indicator in 5'th gear.

Does anyone else have a constant problem with these failing? I'd go thru 
these switches faster than I can think! Is this a known problem or are both 
my retired 8V and current 16V the only ones? If it is a known problem is 
there a fix?
