If what you are looking for is a way to document your idea through a federal
channel, then I have a quick and easy idea for you. Write everything down
and mail it to yourself. Then when you receive it, do not open it, put it in
another envelope and mail it to yourself again. Again, when you receive it,
do not open it.

This is by no means a patent, but it is a way to have your idea date
identified to prove when you had the idea and have that verified through
federal means.

Not sure if that helps you, but just an idea.
