drilling bottom or air box

MessageBut hey... The growl sounds cool! drilling quarter sized holes in =
the box makes a cooler sound than cutting the bottom out.. heh.. notice =
i didn't say anything about performance..=20
though on a side note, when i did that. I didn't notice any differance. =
you probably can't feel 1 or 2hp, but will probably make a differance =
when your racing at a track or something.

It does work great under certain circumstances. As I mention in the =
write up this something your really only going to feel when its nice and =
cold/dense outside. Hey its like 4 bucks, what have you got to loose. =
When I switched to the pipercross airbox I took the ram air out since it =
made difference when it wasnt funneling the air directly into the =
airbox. =20

The ram air effect is fairly insignificant. What is critically =
important is that you pull cold air into the motor. That's really where =
you get your gains. The set up that you just posted the link for would =
work great in this respect.

Yes, letting hot nasty engine bay air into your motor will help =
reduce harmful horsepower. In fact, you lose about one hp for ever 10deg =
increase in air temperature. Go for it!
