sad news



The thing is .. you can't get to the car until it's inspected .. so there is 
no chance to swap the VIN tags.

Unless you find a port where they don't pay too much attention .. but 
they'll find out later and give you and everyone else crap about it.

I do believe you can attempt to do the stuff yourself .. I've read a few 
items some people had posted - but the hassle and paperwork and all the 
wonderfull Gov bs just makes it easier to go with an importer. Here again it 
would be a good idea to find someone who knows what's going on and won't let 
a car get chopped right away if it doesn't pass so you can be notified with 
alternatives.

Wouldn't be all that easy for me to get a nice 92 model ... sucks.

Im still not sure on why (other than legalities that nobody would check) we
cant just swap VINs of dead mkIs of the same year?

What's the deal on importing a car that you are "not" going to put on the
road?
