new distrib = rough idle?

Well before i had a new distributor put in it idled terrific. Turned it on 
and it was dead nuts at 1000rpm.  Immediately after i put in a new 
distributor it seems to bounce alot and it hardly ever idles like it used 
to. The guy that put it in checked it with a timing light. It seems a 
strange coincedence to me and was just wondering what the consensus on that 
was.
