Dave,
You need to find a way to retain the head in place. If you install the
spring compressor then you will notice the valve attempting to go down. Your
goal is is not let the valve go down and compress only the spring. There is
a special plate made by Schley Products that can assist you in this job.
Basically it is a flat plate with lumps in it where the valves are. The head
bolts directly onto this (it has hole for the head bolts); thus retaining
the head for easy valve spring removal.
Be sure to use the little sleeve that you get with the valve seals so the
seal doesnt get damaged upon installation. Also having a good pair of seal
pullers would help. GL!
