`umm. this number is screwed. the majority of real internets servers
run Solaris. Linux is popular amoung smaller companies, but it isn't
scalable or reliable as Solaris.. Not to mention the fact that it has
regular security holes on a constant basis due to the strange development
structure that they use.
MySQL isn't a proper RDMS and if anyone runs a real database on it
they are going to have serious problems. (doesn't suport transactions,
atomicity, row level locking, etc etc etc. ie: It has serious scalablity
problems as well as data reliablity)

FreeBSD is what the hotmail.com people used/use. You are correct
in the the MS servers couldn't handled the load.. Of course they have
been
slowly replacing the FreeBSD machines.
FreeBSD you'll find powers many a ISP.
