in 84 they made a rocco GTi ?

Never say never.  The US didn't get the Mk2 Scirocco GTI, but Europe did.
I have at least one brochure online with pictures showing the badge.  Look
in the Scirocco/History/German section. 82? 83?

OTOH, a visiting friend from England commented how my '85 (stock wheels,
etc) was the same as their GTI.  So by that, we got the car, just not the
badge.
