there was talk a month or two ago about the accuracy of the speedometer. on
my road trip last week, i tried timing it based on the roadside mile
markers. over ten miles at a (fairly) constant 85 mph, my odometer was off
by .1-.2 miles (1-2%), and my average calculated speed was 83.7 mph (~1.5%;
i timed how long it took, used that and 10 miles to come up with a number).
i know there are a few variables that could have screwed the numbers up a
bit, but i think those claims of the speedo being off by 10% are unfounded.
