Battery Relocation...Grounding

I agree with the grounding and the insulating via motor mounts but I've
never heard of the arcing. I would beg to differ on that subject since the
CV joints come with discoloring on the tips from improper cooling while
cutting the shapes. Plus, the only spots on the CV joints I have ever
noticed (other than what I mentioned above) are caused from regular wear
either lack of lube, rust pitting from lack of use and moisture, of course,
and basic wear. Never seen arc welds on CV joints. I can see a current
traveling through the transmission and axles into the spindle but how would
it get to the body from there? Through the bushings on the lower control
arm, or through the rubber strut bearing, or through the rubber steering
rack mounts? Maybe, (a stretch) through the column but I don't know.

I have worked on MANY cars that had ground problems and for the most part it
only took a ground strap from the body (pretty much anywhere) to the motor
(most are either on the trans bolts (trans to block), head or intake.

Not trying to diss you, Dan, just find your arcing story hard to believe and
something I've never seen in my 10 years plus working on VWs.
