actually, for ice and snow, the quaife may do more harm than good. when you
have zero traction on the free wheel, a quaife turns into an open diff (as there
is no torque to move the center gear over). i'd say go with the spool.
side note: simply welding the gears of an open (stock) diff is a much
cheaper alternative. just be sure its a good weld.
