Somebody buy my extra cable! I relocated mine last spring. I used some really cool cable. It's 4/0 (not 4 gauge, 4/0) aluminum. The aluminum has more resistance than copper, but a lot less weight. The giant cable is as light as, well, much smaller copper (ran the numbers before I did it, and it conducts way better than copper of the same weight, but don't recall the actual numbers). Ran the stuff the same way Cheapass did. Under rear seat, through a hole under left rear seat, along brake lines to front. I used the firewall grommet from the battery cable on a mid-80's BMW 3 series to get through the body under the seat. That grommet is like 1" wide and 2" long, and lets the cable pass through at a nice angle. BTW, the 3-series cable is not long enough for your Scirocco. I tried. Have one if you want to try. I'm currently using an old ground cable to the bumper bolts. You don't need to run a separate ground all the way up to the front. Waste of time, trust me. Anyway, with the 4/0 cable and basic ground to bumper bolts, the starter spins like never before. Got the cable ends from McMaster Carr, and found a great way to solder and crimp them on that anyone can do. Car handles much better. Favorite turn on the way home from work is now an easy 65mph turn instead of 60. A lot more change than I expected. The cable I used is for RV's, and comes in a bundle of 3, with 1 smaller (2/0) cable. So I have two more relocations worth of cable I need to get rid of. I paid $65 for all the cable, so if someone wanted to give me a third of that, (for 20' of 4/0 cable and 6' of 2/0) that would be cool. Only takes about 15' to make it from back of trunk to starter. Happy relocations. I've often wondered if the super heavy duty jumper cables (1/0 gauge) would work for battery relocation, thoughts? A 16 foot set for forty bucks (32 ft total) should be plenty... Would you run a full size ground back to the engine compartment also? Jason AdamsFahrvergnugen Forever! ;)84 rocco 16v93 320i98 Z71

I'm using 1/0 on mine and I'm lovin it. The 1/0 is easily twice the price though, because you have to get all the 1/0 connectors and ends. 4 g. will probably work fine, and wouldn't cost you too much. Vince

Can you get them? Maybe you could just get a good price on wire? Say 4 awg about 20 feet be enough to run from behind the rear seats? LMK. Any advice would be welcome.
