Tried to get the new car running today - here's the scoop...
I swapped the entire fuel distributor, including lines and injectors
with a known working unit w/ new injectors from the 81. After bleeding
the injectors into a jar for a quite a while, only one or two would
flow when the fuel distributor plate was lifted more than 1/4".
The symptoms described to me before I started working on it were -
idles (not great), but would stumble and die if any load placed on it.
So, I would think I've got a fuel pressure problem - I don't believe
it's a flow restriction because I ran the fuel pump with the hose
disconnected from the fuel filter, and it flowed plenty...
There's a new fuel pump and control pressure regulator already
installed. And, changing out the fuel distributor did nothing to help
the situation.
I don't have access to a fuel pressure gauge, but I'm thinking the new
fuel pump is pooched. Before I rip the other one out of the 81
(doesn't look like fun), anyone have any advice on what to check?
Thanks!
