I'm getting a 16v

I start out looking for a transmission for a friend.  Well, looky here,
I can get a 4k with a 80% kit!  Hmmm, I can sell Ed my transmission and
that will pay for some of the 4k.  I put the plan in motion.  Ed doesn't
have any cash right now, but he has a NIB HOR cam, but it's for a hydro
head.  What do ya know, here's a P&P/shaved/hydo head on Vortex.  I get
cold feet when the guy says he didn't do the work to it and the guy that
did said it was for his "race" motor (whatever that means).  I still
kinda ok with it, but the last message I get is that the head is sold AS
IS.  It didn't help that he only had about 20 post history on vortex.  I
tell him I change my mind (I think I just need to slow down my buying
for a bit).  Now what am I going to do with a hydro cam?  Last night, I
guy that drives a truck for a parts store tells me he doesn't want his
16v because it needs a clutch and wants to get a Honda 'cause they are
faster and you don't have to work on them all the time :)  Well, I give
him the cam (he also has a 87 8v GTI) and $250 for a 87 16 GTI.  When I
ask for help about it, I'll just pretend it is a Scirocco.
