Well, I finally got around to slapping the gti rims & tires that my wife got
from Brian H while up in Cincy on her cabby.  Figured since I made it that
far I would put the new speed-o cable in as well.  A friend dropped by and
figured he'd lend a hand so while I was looking at some things under the
car, he went to pop the new cable in.  Well as luck would have it, he dind't
notice that there was a circle clip on the old gear&cable so when he put the
gear on the new cable and when to put it back into the tranny, the gear came
off and down in the tranny it went.

So, after many choice words were said, I'm now stuck.  I really, really,
really don't want to have to drop the tranny outta the car.  What are the
chances I could snake a grabber tool (little 3 claw thing) down in there and
fish the damn thing out?  Or is there another way to get at the dam thing
without having to drop the tranny?  I can't see one but I figure my friend
can't be the only person to ever do this.
