accelerator cable confusion.

16v pedal assembly, including the gas pedal.  The hole on the end of the gas
pedal arm where the cable attaches is about 1/2" in dia but the little brass
looking hook on the end of the cable is WAY to skinny to attach there.  I am
obviously missing a piece but cant find a good pic of how that goes
together.  Anyone know what I am talking about?  Stumped.  Again.
