[OT] Upgrading B3 Passat brakes

Okay, I know several of you on the list have B3 Passats, so please allow me
to pick your collective brains on this one.

I've read conflicting things on the web about whether or not the "steering
knuckles" (or wheel bearing housing, as the Bentley refers to it) need to be
changed to accommodate 11" brakes from a G60 Corrado.  One website says you
only need to change the knuckles if your (A2 and up) car had 9" brakes.
Another one implies you need G60 or Passat VR6 knuckles.

I do have G60 calipers (complete with carrier/frames) sitting in a box here
so my next step would be to test fit and see if it works, but not sure when
I'll get around to doing it.  I was saving the brake parts for the Scirocco
but the Passat needs brakes now and I think the G60 calipers are kinda heavy
(compared to an aluminum caliper like Wilwood or Brembo).
