(ot) got an idea

Sounds like a creative project,I want to see pictures if you do it. I can
imagine all the open space in the engine bay after the swap!
After flipping through a Haynes' Audi manual, the only problems I can think
of would be the front mount (4-cyl has a longer bracket compared to the
5-cyl), and the trannys look to be engine specific; a 4-cyl won't bolt up to
a 5-cyl trans and vice-versa.
I'm going off the pics/info from the manual, not having any real experience
with Audi 5's, does anyone have more concrete info if this can be done or
not?

<< mostly, as you said, for the budget swap. i got the motor, the shell is
cheap. also in my various workings on his car, the motor can be a bear to
work on. the airbox/ fuel injection is actually inside the fender, the
starter is blocked by the a-arm and tranny etc..
oh yeah, did i forget to mention fear. does anyone remember what happened
 when i turboed my corrado?
