Point of clarification, when you say you have advance the timing as far as
it will go are you talking about the position of the notch on the flywheel
in relation to the timing mark on the hole in the housing or are you saying
that the distributor won't turn any more because of the limitations of the
bolts that hold it down?  If the latter, have you tried switching the hold
down bolts to the second set of holes?  There are a total of four threaded
bolt holes (two for each side of the distributor).  Sorry if this is rehash,
I'm coming into this thread late.
