[tehc] engine swap

I may be biased, but I completely disagree with you Dan, The 2.0 is one of
the greatest BFB mods that can be done. "There's no replacement for
displacement."

Sure, _STOCK_ ABA hp is 115. But _stock_ JH is 90. So that's 25hp right
there. Not minor.

Another way to look at it is that 2.0l is 11% more than 1.8 liters, so you'd
expect 11% more power keeping everything else the same. Turns out that
midrange torque improves the most.

You'll obviously want to do everything that you'd do anyway: 4-2 EM, dual
downpipe, good exhaust, cam of choice, larger TB, portmatching, etc.

140 - 150 hp is not that hard in the 2.0l 8v.

My suggestion. Don't bother with the whole motor. I got just the bottom end
for $350 from a salvage yard, they pulled it. I'm sure you can find it for
less. Build up a head and assemble out of the car. Pull the old motor,
transfer everything, and plop the new one in. Done in a weekend.

Additional costs are the down pipe, the knocksensing ignition, and the
distributor.

Patrick, do it, you won't regret it. Turns into a no-brainer if you are
going to have the motor out anyway.
